UX design and development support for a food-tech startup based in Vancouver.
At Flavrite, I am leading the design for a fun little product where two people can compare how similar they are in taste through rating and ranking products within the app.
MAIN TASKS
Design system refresh
The first thing I did upon joining the team was a design system refresh. The goal of this was to streamline the development process, in order to guarantee a smoother design-to-development hand off process, which did not exist prior to my joining of the team.
UX testing
I conducted on-site user testing during our company’s promotional “tasting events”. I would observe people using the app, and converse directly with users to identify pain points and see how likely they are to return to the app.
Feature audits & proposals
Through user testing results, I refined the core user loop of “taste -> rate” by unifying interactions to better match mental models.
Feature proposals
A core issue we are aiming to tackle with Flavrite are low user retention rates. In order to tackle this, I am working towards finding a market fit. Another thing we are doing is creating a sense of identity within the app. I am drawing concepts from journaling apps and rating/ranking apps to solidify our initial concept.
